Hurricane Sandy—I’m Alive!

Greetings, everyone!  Thanks for your kind comments, tweets, and virtual hugs throughout the past couple days.  Hurricane Sandy hit New York City hard Monday night, and I’m still without power.  Needless to say, it’s been a tough (read: grungy, ha!) few days. (On the bright side, I got quite a bit of reading done.) Anyway, welcome to my view.

Hello, Starbucks!  Power in my area won’t be restored for another 4-5 days—glahhh–so I’ll do my best to update the blog and tweet when I can, but I’ll most likely be off the grid for the time being.

Please stay safe, friends!   Any ideas for fun activities that don’t require power or electricity?  Any book recommendations?  What are your plans for Halloween?

  1. You should read the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. The first one is called One For The Money. They’re super funny, and a good distraction!

  2. Oh no! Glad you’re safe though!

  3. oh girl hang in there! thinking of you through this, hopefully you are not going too stir crazy

  4. Stay safe up there Carrie, I hope you get the powah back on soon!

  5. I bet everyone is hanging out in Starbucks! Good to hear from you.

PS: Don’t you wish there was some way of hooking a turbo trainer up to power your laptop?! (Even thouhg I know you’re still waiting for one)

  6. Thank goodness you’re ok!

  7. So glad to hear from you Carrie! I’ve been worried about you. 🙂 Things to do…hhmmm. Well you can always read or do exercising…running flights of steps? Puzzles? Work on your Christmas cards or list ? Check on your neighbors? That’s all the ideas I have right now. Stay warm and safe! Thanks for checking in.

  8. Glad you’re okay! 🙂

  9. Wow, that’s so long for your power to be out!! Hope it goes by quickly!

  10. Glad you’re okay!! Hope they get everything cleaned up soon. The city probably needed a bit of a break — it’s been the city that never sleeps forever!! Being forced to sleep can’t have done it all that much wrong … 😉

  11. Glad you are safe! Do you have any board games you can play with friends?

  12. Ah! That stinks about the power, but thankfully you are safe! I was pretty worried up here in Boston, but the worst of it is some minor flooding and very short power outages up here. Here’s to returning to normal soon!

  13. I hope you get your power back soon!! People around here lost power for almost a week during the hurricane last year (Irene), and it’s definitely no fun 🙁 hopefully you have enough food and water to last you through it, and I hope it doesn’t really take 4-5 days! Crazy.

  14. On the bright side it should make for a spooky Halloween! Stay safe.
