Write It Down, Do It Up – Week of Nov. 25

Hey, friends—Happy Sunday!  Have you fully recovered from Turkey Day?  I’m still working on it.  My family celebrated Thanksgiving Part Deux on Saturday, which included aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and chocolate martinis.  Yesterday, we went to our annual family Yankee Auction party.  Can you believe we had more than 30 people under one roof?  Once the gift swap began, things got a little nutty.  Let’s just say there was alcohol, crazy hats, and a machete involved.  No injuries, though.  Ha!  This morning, I grabbed breakfast with my friend Laura, and then my family got our Christmas tree at Critz Farms!

When I wasn’t eating, drinking, or laughing, I did manage to complete all but one of my scheduled workouts. (There was an oversight on my part in terms of the CNY Triathlon Club bike trainer workout, so I went running instead.) I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, and now it’s time to get back on track.  Here’s this week’s edition of Write It Down, Do It Up!

(If you’re new to WIDDIU, here’s how it works:  Every Sunday evening, I’ll post my workout schedule for the week, and I invite you to do the same.  This way, we can motivate each other and hold ourselves accountable.  Sounds like a win-win, right?)

Monday – bike (trainer workout)

Tuesday – swim; run; strength train

Wednesday – off/easy run

Thursday – a.m. yoga

Friday – swim; bike (trainer workout during the SU game)

Saturday – run; strength train

Sunday – off/easy run

Did you stay active during Thanksgiving?  How are you getting back on track after the holiday?

  1. Sounds like a super hectic, but super fun weekend!! Congrats on sticking to your training schedule through the madness. It wasn’t a holiday here, but I’m in the middle of a 10 shifts in 11 days stretch, so it was a near-epic battle between my pillow and my Mizunos every day after work. haha. They pretty much traded victories, but the 34 miles I ran this week were strong, so I’m not complaining!! Good luck getting back in the swing of things this week!

    • Wow, 34 miles during a hectic week is a big accomplishment, Chelsie! I have a feeling things will remain busy right up until the holidays. Hopefully we can stay focused and active. 🙂

  2. Ah, love how there are no miles attached to your workouts!…sigh….race training overtakes my life!

    • Running for distance is tough. Since I’m focusing on swimming and biking, I’m simply logging time for my runs. (I also train by time instead of distance across the board.)

  3. Love that photo! Does that road lead you up to your house? Or are those Christmas trees 🙂

  4. I was running all week until I hurt my knee then stopped. 🙁 I’m going to basically work on strength training this week while I recover.

  5. What is a Yankee Auction Party? Sounds fun!

    • I should probably write a post about this and share some pictures. Basically, it’s a gift swap. Everyone brings a gift to the party, and then each person picks a number from a hat. Next, going in numerical order, each person picks and unwraps a gift. However, if it’s your turn and someone has an unwrapped gift you want, you can “steal” it. Each gift can go through three hands before it’s “dead,” which means no one else can take it. Oh, and whoever draws number one gets to choose again at the end if they wish. It sounds complicated, but it’s so much fun!

  6. LOVE this post. I actually got a lot more workouts in then I thought I would this week. Next week, I’m planning on running a 5k and just pulling out some serious workouts again that I didn’t get on travel. Cranking up the intensity maybe?
