Something Clicked

Happy Saturday, everyone!  How’s your weekend going so far?  Last night, I hit up happy hour at Brother Jimmy’s BBQ with Sara, which included margaritas and fries; no pictures, unfortunately.  This morning, I had a leisurely breakfast and completed a full-body strength training workout before tackling a 75-minute indoor bike trainer ride.

This was the best ride I’ve had in a while—and something definitely clicked.  The training scheduled called for a steady zone two workout (aka not super challenging), and I remained in the aero position the entire time.  Granted, I wasn’t pushing big gear by any means, but my legs felt fresh and noticeably stronger; I didn’t seem to be working as hard to turn my legs over and maintain an ideal cadence.  Maybe last night’s strawberry margaritas deserve the credit?  Ha—just kidding!  Anyway, after pedaling through the first half and watching the disappointing result of the Syracuse-Villanova basketball game (I don’t want to talk about it), I headed to the Union Square Greenmarket.

It was a little chilly, so the amount of people there was a pleasant surprise.  However, since the SU game went into overtime, I missed a lot of my go-to vendors.  Le sigh.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

  4. Good job on your workout! I love how dedicated you are.

  5. Props to you for a great workout!

  6. I’d love a post on your go-to vendors at the Union Square Greenmarket sometime! I go occasionally, but I have a hard time figuring out which vendor to purchase from.

    • That’s a good idea–I can definitely work on that. :) It took my a while to find my favorites; it’s not like there are any “bad” vendors, but I’ve found a couple of reliable ones.

  7. It might just be me, but I’ve always had the most righteous workouts after drinking. (Not binge drinking just a couple of drinks) but I’m really glad the biking is coming so far along. You and all your workouts seriously always impress me.

  8. You know, I’ve noticed that, too–during college, I would have enough wine on Saturday night (like two glasses or so), and my runs Sunday morning would be *so* good. Maybe we’re onto something. ;)

  9. Great ride, Carrie! I’ve been really working on pushing myself on the spin bikes (obviously not the same as actual riding) and I hope it helps me come actual tri training time!

I would love a margarita right now ;)

    • I’ve grown to really like my team’s indoor cycling classes. I wasn’t sure about the concept at first (I would rather ride my own bike), but as long as you push yourself, you’ll get a good workout. :)

  11. I love this! Every once in awhile, I’ll be out running and suddenly notice, “Hey! This is going really well! I don’t feel fatigued at all!” and it’s such an awesome feeling :D
