Write It Down, Do It Up – Week of Feb. 10

Happy Sunday, friends!  Did you have a great weekend?  I spent Saturday hunkering down and laying low due to Nemo, but I did get lots of cleaning, laundry, and meal prep done, which I consider a success.  Today, I ran some errands and completed a full-body strength training workout and a 75-minute indoor bike trainer ride.  I also got new running sneakers!

I cheated on Fleet Feet Sports and went to JackRabbit Sports, and I switched teams—can’t wait to try these Saucony Progrid Guide 6’s tomorrow morning!

Speaking of Monday, this week is make or break time—can I balance interning full-time with Full Throttle Endurance training?  For now, I’m going to stick to my normal training schedule and complete two sweat sessions before work—basically, if I don’t workout by 8 a.m., then it’s not happening—so we’ll see how it goes.  I plan to blog three days this week, so if things seems a bit sporadic, you know why.  Time for Write It Down, Do It Up!

(If you’re new to WIDDIU, here’s how it works:  Every Sunday evening, I post my workout schedule for the week, and I invite you to do the same.  This way, we can motivate each other and hold ourselves accountable.  Sounds like a win-win, right?)

Monday – a.m. run with Full Throttle Endurance (FTE); a.m. swim

Tuesday – a.m. run and strength train

Wednesday – a.m. bike with FTE; a.m. run

Thursday – a.m. yoga

Friday – a.m. swim with FTE; a.m. run

Saturday – a.m. swim; p.m. bike and strength train (if I can even stay up that late—SU game starts at 8 p.m.!)

Sunday – off

How do you balance fitness with work/school/other commitments?

  1. Fun with new shoes! I use my calendar like mad! 😉 feel free to link up today!

  2. I will ignore the saucony’s while my heart breaks over the mizuno break up BUT good luck this week. sounds like a solid plan

    • Ah, Alex, it killed me–I tried the Elixir 8’s, but they felt too light, almost like I wasn’t wearing sneakers at all, which freaked me out a little.

  3. Looks like a pretty packed week for you as far as workouts. In response to your comment to Alex and light shoes, I cannot train in too light of shoes. I’ve had far too many close calls with injuries to ever make me comfortable enough to. I race in light shoes yes, but train no way.

    • I hear you–the Elixir 8’s felt way too light for me. Training in one pair and racing in another is a good idea; I’ll definitely have to think about it. 🙂

  4. Wow, what a big week ahead. Even a day with 3 workouts! I switched to Saucony this past summer and absolutely love mine. On a completely unrelated note, I can’t see your blog in my wordpress reader any more?

    • Swimming has been pushed to the backburner lately, so I really need to refocus and spend some quality time in the pool. And yes–I switched from WordPress.com hosting to self-hosting at Bluehost a few weeks ago, so you might have to refollow/resubscribe.

  5. Balancing fitness and school is fairly easy for me. It’s balancing fitness and work last summer that was a challenge and I’ll have to work on morning workouts when I go back to my law firm this fall. I’ll be looking for tips from you! 🙂

    • Ekkk–hope everything goes smoothly this week! During college, I had no problem balancing classes, homework, extracurriculars, etc. with fitness, but working full-time will be a new challenge I’m sure.

  6. I work full time included an hour commute to AND from work. I’ve had to master the skill of fitting in my workouts and honestly some weeks are better than others. Lately I’ve felt just exhausted alllllll the time, I’m hoping it’s partly to do with the weather and that I will snap out of it this week. Good luck with your new internship though!!

  7. ooOOo! New shoes are awesome! I tried on Sauconys and almost bought them last year, but they were a big change in cushion than what I was used to. We’ll see how the Newtons treat me 🙂 I just posted my last week of workouts and am still trying to get this week in order. But, something like Crossfit 3x, run 2-3x. Maybe 1-2 rest days this week after back to back half marathons – I’m welcoming it.

    • As you know, I really want to try Newtons! The running store doesn’t carry them, though, and the Sauconys felt like winners. 🙂

  8. Have a great week, Carrie!

And yay team Saucony, I approve!! 🙂
