Snapshot Friday and Saturday

Every time my family visits, I tell myself I’ll be a good blogger, take tons of pictures, and write a really detailed recap about our adventures.  And every time I fail miserably—ha!  This weekend, though, I managed to snap a few pics, so I’ll share those with you.

Friday

After rocking my wetsuit at Friday’s swim practice, I spent the day hanging out with my sister Margaret.  First, we ate lunch at Terri, an organic and vegetarian restaurant.

I ordered the “tuna” melt (aka chickpea salad) with a side of roasted sweet potatoes.

It tasted great and kept me full during our entire shopping trip, which included stops at Zara and Kate Spade.

Margaret trying on shoes—YOLO.

I took a class in college with Michele called “He Says, She Says,” so I found this iPhone cover oh so rhetorical.

Even though it was blizzarding in NYC, Margaret and I ordered our first iced coffees Americanos of the season.

Spring better be on the way!

My parents and sister Ellen arrived later that night and brought some goodies from my grandma—homemade sauce and meatballs for the win!

I cannot wait to break into this stash.

Saturday

My weekend started with a Full Throttle Endurance swimming practice at Chelsea Piers and brunch at my teammate’s apartment. (Er, triathlete brunch, I guess; we ate around 9:30 a.m.—ha!) I didn’t want to be a creeper and whip out my iPhone, but the spread was impressive:  waffles and whipped cream made from scratch, asparagus and goat cheese frittata, plus bacon, Italian biscotti, and sparkling apple cider.  Holy moley, everything was so good!  I also enjoyed hanging out with my teammates outside of swimming, biking, and running.  Yes, we talked triathlons the entire time, but it was great to focus on the conversation without keeping an eye on the clock to time our rest and intervals.

Back at my apartment, my family and I watched the first half of the Syracuse basketball game (I don’t want to talk about the final result) before heading uptown to see Jersey Boys.

Absolutely incredible!

And get this—one of the “swing” cast members played Frankie Valli, and he totally killed it!  He even had his own friends and family cheering section.

Speaking of family …

Doing what we do best—goofing off!

Next, we wandered around Chelsea Market briefly, but it was a bit difficult navigation-wise with all five of us, so we didn’t stay very long.  I was also experiencing some stomach troubles and was so not in the mood to take pictures.

For dinner, we went to a Raymi, a Peruvian restaurant for dinner, and it was phenomenal!  Again, not pictures due to being girl-down, but we plan to go back.

How was your weekend?

Snapshot Saturday – Home for the Holidays

Hello from Central New York!

12:22-christmas-tree

It feels great to be home for the holidays!  Even though I saw my family last weekend, we haven’t been together at home since Thanksgiving, so I’m happy and thankful we’re all together again.  Including Zelda.

I missed her so much!  Today’s been a low-key, relaxing day.  I watched the Syracuse basketball this afternoon, which I do not want to talk about.

Yep, Jim Boeheim was seriously peeved. (And yes, my beloved Orange lost to the Temple Owls.) I then proceeded to drown my sorrows by baking some Christmas cookies.  First, Margaret and I made fudge-filled sandies.

We split one for “quality control purposes,” and they tasted yummy!

We also baked a batch of gingerbread men.

We’ll decorate them tomorrow, and we also have at least three more types of cookies to make, so we’ll be busy!  Oh, and between measuring flour, setting the timer, and moving cookies to cooling racks, I totally OD’d on my grandma’s homemade toffee.

You can’t stop at one piece; the stuff is seriously addicting, so we call it crack–ha!  Hopefully there will be more at our family dinner tomorrow.

Do you bake Christmas cookies?  What’s your favorite type of cookie to make—or eat?

Happy Saturday!  I hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Last night, I met up with some college friends, and we went to Connolly’s Pub and Restaurant for dinner and drinks.

This Magners was my first cider since studying abroad in London, and it tasted delicious.

My sister Margaret and her boyfriend came to the city to see The Nutcracker, and the stayed the night; we ate breakfast at Cafeteria this morning.

Monterey eggs with black eye peas, avocado, jack cheese, and cherry tomato salsa.  Plus a half-order of pancakes for the table.

FYI, that’s sweet whipped cream, not butter.  We also made a quick pit stop at Crumbs for two cupcakes—red velvet and peanut butter cup.

Penn Station went all-out for the holidays.

Instagrammed—for the #HolidayADay Challenge—of course.

Plans for the rest of the day include relaxing, completing a strength training workout, and biking during the SU game tonight.  Here we go, Orange!

Snapshot Saturday – Union Square Greenmarket and Street Fair

Hi, everyone!  I hope you had a great Saturday!  Here are a few pictures from my day; I went to the Union Square Greenmarket this morning, and I wandered around a street fair with my friend Sara this afternoon.

Short and sweet–have a great evening!

Hey, there—happy Saturday!  It’s been a bit since the last Snapshot Saturday, so I’m bringing it back today.

OK, technically, this chocolate-peanut butter frozen yogurt happened last night.  I met up with some fabulous William Smith women for drinks and appetizers.  And frozen yogurt at Flavaboom, obviously.

Gorgeous bike ride to the George Washing Bridge this morning.

Time to watch the Ironman World Championship!  I saw this on Instangram the other day, and my heart stopped.

Wow.  Just wow.

Snapshot Saturday – September 8

Hi!  Happy Saturday!  Today’s plan to go to the Syracuse Irish Festival didn’t happen with Hurricane Isaac looming in the distance.  Oh well.  Here are some scenes from the day.

Have a great night!

Snapshot Saturday – The New York State Fair

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Any fun plans for the weekend?  Yesterday afternoon, we went to The New York State Fair, and these pictures are perfect for this week’s edition of Snapshot Saturday.

What’s your favorite food to get at the fair?  I managed about two bites of the deep-fried Oreo before passing it off to my sister (so good, yet so rich), and the cinnamon roasted almonds were my favorite eat of the day.

Snapshot Saturday – August 18

Hiya, friends!  I hope your weekend is off to a great start!  I’ve had a low-key day, so here are a few pictures from my Saturday.

Time to watch some Olympics–have a great night!

Snapshot Saturday – July 21

Hiya!  Happy Saturday!  It’s been a while since I’ve done a Snapshot Saturday, and I figured today would be a good time to bring it back.
