How did you decide what to blog about?
As you can see from my personal narrative, working out and eating healthy define my lifestyle. It wasn’t until junior year of college that people—family, friends, and even Twitter followers—started asking me for fitness and food advice. It wasn’t long before I started reading healthy living blogs, and I figured why not give blogging a shot. Overall, I aim to write about what I would want to read about, so you’ll see daily eats, sweat session recaps, travel excursions, and anything else life throws my way.
What’s the big deal about frozen grapes?
Ah, frozen grapes. While I was studying abroad, one of my friends introduced me to this concept, and my life has been changed forever! Changing the temperature of whole foods is one of the easiest ways to give them a new flavor, and popping grapes into the freezer makes them sweeter. You will see this dessert on the blog a quite frequently—like almost everyday. Frozen grapes almost pacify my dark chocolate addiction. Almost.
Do you photograph everything you eat?
I do my best to snap shots, but some eats and snacks go undocumented—sometimes I forgot my camera. (Bad blogger, Carrie!) Other times, I don’t want to ruin the moment by whipping my camera out. If I don’t take pictures, then I will do my best to describe what I ate.
How long have you been blogging?
A lot of my classes at HWS incorporated blogging and digital rhetoric into coursework, and I started my own blog when I studied abroad in London. Fitness and Frozen Grapes hit the blogosphere on June 5, 2012.
How long does it take to write a blog post?
Thanks to my Writing and Rhetoric degree, I’ve taken my fair share of writing and editing classes, so a typical post takes me around one hour.
What kind of camera do you use?
I have two cameras—a Cannon PowerShot SD750 and a Cannon PowerShot SX130IS. I usually use the SD750 for “on-the-go” pictures (like during workouts, errands, etc.) and the SX130IS for food shots. I also use my iPhone’s camera quite frequently, too.
What kind of blogging software do you use?
I’m most familiar with WordPress, so I decided to use it for the blog.
